Two Mustang Club of St. Louis members, Bob Krone and Carol Ann Miller tried out the Tempur-Cloud Supreme bed at the Bed Room Store booth Friday at St. Louis 33rd Annual Builders Home and Garden Show at America's Center in downtown St. Louis. Carol stated "We just decided to take a rest and tried out the bed. There is always some kind of good deal here. You can get twice as much for half the price"....... We couldn't have said it any better.
MCSTL Invited to 2010 St Louis Auto Show

The Mustang Club of St. Louis was invited to attend the 2010 St. Louis Auto Show to preview the new "5.0" powerplant in the 2011 Mustang. A total of 22 of our members attended the show and got a first hand look at the new engine. Ford sent a black 2011 Coupe to St. Louis for the show. Although there are no visible changes to the exterior of the Mustang plenty of attention was spent in the drivetrain. The new engine produces a whopping 412 horsepower which is an increase of 107 over the 2010. I think you're going to see plenty of new 2011 Mustangs hitting the streets come March and April...

We'd like to thank the Ford Motor Company for the invitation to the Auto Show and Mike Durkin, Regional Zone Manager, Ford Motor Company for the presentation of the 2011 Mustang.
MCSTL is now a Regional Chartered Club of the MCA

On Saturday November 14th, 2009 the Mustang Club of St. Louis became a Regional Chartered Club of the Mustang Club of America. I flew down to Dallas on Friday Nov. 13th for the MCA Board of Directors meeting that was being held on Saturday the 14th. The meeting was held at Sam Pack's private auto museum. You have to see this facility in person to appreciate all of the fine automobiles and fine collectibles that are on display there.

The meeting started at 9:00am with roll call being taken by Randy Jacobson, Sec. of the MCA. Steve McCarley, MCA President welcomed all of the National, Regional Directors and guests. We then went through a list of committee reports and unfinished business before taking a 15 minute break. After the break the discussion turned to planning for the 35th MCA anniversary in 2011. There was lengthy discussion about the event and where to have it. The main factor is cost as far as choosing a facility. Evidently the costs have risen drastically. A couple of places that were mentioned are: Las Vegas at Shelby's facility, Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham Alabama, Charlotte, North Carolina or possibly having all 2011 national shows carry a 35th anniversary theme. It didn't seem like any of these ideas had a clear advantage over another. The only thing in total agreement was that things needed to start happening fast and the event will be held on Labor Day weekend as in the past. Next was a report from the driving committee and all of the applications for driving events for 2010. We then recessed for lunch.

After lunch all of the written committee reports were discussed and this is where the petition requests for new charters were discussed. There were a total of four clubs requesting Regional Chartered status with ours being read first. Jeff Mays, Chairman for Regional Chartered Clubs read our request and introduced me the the Board. Several questions were asked and directed to both Jeff and myself. I gave the Board a brief decscription about the club and how many members we have and our activities to date. After several minutes a vote was taken and our petition was overwhelmingly approved. The other 3 clubs petitions were discussed and also approved.

Several more items on the agenda were covered with a lot of attention being directed for the 2011 and beyond National Shows. So far there has only been one show approved for 2011. There are several other applications on the table but they all have some sort of issue with them. These will be turned back to the club submitting the petition to rectify the concerns before being reviewed again. I'll have more to cover with everyone at the next membership meeting in January, 2010. It was definitely an eye opening and informational trip and I thank everyone for sending me there.
I'm writing this in memory of Linda Nahlik's Mom, Biffle. She was a wonderful person and a lot of us referred to her as "Mom". You would see her at several of our club events sitting back and enjoying everyone's company. The most amazing thing I can remember about "Mom" was the trip we all made to Birmingham, Alabama for the 45th anniversary celebration. She made the trip with us in Linda & Charlie's 66 coupe. I never once heard her complain about the trip down there and back in the 66. She also kept up with all of us at Barber Motorsports Park where the event was actually held. It was also a joy to see her at Kate's lake home this past July. It sure looked like she was enjoying herself and had a great time talking and visiting with Kate's Mom, "Goose".

I'm so happy that I was able to share some of these times with her. We used to always kid around on how to keep Linda in line when she was "acting" up at one the club events. May you rest in peace, "Mom" we're all sure going to miss seeing you at our outings. You'll always be in our hearts.......
